Common properties:

Alloy 310H has higher carbon content restricted to exclude the lower end of tubes. This makes it for higher temperature applications. This grade has outstanding resistance to oxidation in temperatures up to 1040 degree C and it offers service up to 1150 degree C in intermitting temperatures. These tubes can be exposed in environments that contain sulfur dioxide gas at higher temperatures. However, it is recommended not to continuously use at temperature 797-1580 degree F because of carbide precipitation.

The processed tubes provide superior resistance to corrosion and heat exposure even in most critical environments. It has higher chromium content intended to increase the higher temperature environments also makes it compatible with aqueous corrosion resistance. In higher temperatures, it exhibits good resistance to oxidization and carburizing atmospheres. It is prone to sigma phase embrittlement in the temperature range 650-900 degree C.

Due to its work hardening rate, sever forming operations should be followed by the annealing process. Often it is fabricated into complex structures. It is commonly used in the heat treatments in process industries due to high-temperature properties.

It is the austenitic SS grade considered for the welding process. It is weldable with all standard welding process including resistance and arc welding.
